InthecapacityofprofessorattheDepartmentofEconomicswhohasinstructedMs.JaJacksoninthecourseofInternationalEconomicsduringtheacademicyearof1991to1992,IampleasedtohavethisopportunitytointroducehertoyourprestigiousMBAestablishment.Jawasastand-outstudentinmyclass.Shereceivedaveryhighscoreinmycourseandwasrankedinthetoptenpercentoftheclass.Inadditiontobeingaprofessor,IamalsoafacultyadvisoroftheDepartmentofEconomicsStudentCouncil.ItwasinthiscapacitythatIgrewtoknowJaevenbetter.AlthoughonlyteachingJaforonecourse,IfeelthatIknowherpersonality,personalattributesandattitudesthroughmycontactwithheroutsideoftheclassroom.

Unlikemostofherpeers,JahasdemonstratedagreatdealofindependentthinkingasastudentatABCUniversity.Forthecoursesinwhichshehadaparticularinterest,shewasfullydevotedtoexcellinginthosecourses.Iwouldgosofarastosaythatshewasaperfectionistinthisregard.Heronlyweaknessisthatincoursesthatshefeltwerelesssuitedtoherinterests,shedidnotstudyhashardasshewouldperhapshavebeenabletodo.Inoticedthatherperformancewaslessthansatisfactoryinbothstatisticsandcalculus.ThissurprisedmebecauseJahasstrongquantitativeskillsasdemonstratedinmyinternationaleconomicscourse.Herperformanceinthisclasswasexceptional.

Japerhapsstandsoutmostwithregardtoherextracurricularactivities.ShewasavarsitytabletennisteamplayerallfouryearsshewasastudentatABC.Sherepresentedtheuniversityinanationalcollegiatetabletennistournamenteachyear.In1990,shereceivedasilvermedalinthewomen"ssinglestournament,andin1991,shereceivedfourthplaceinawomen"sdoublestournament.Jawasalsoamemberoftheuniversity"sdebateteam.Asafreshman,shereceivedtheawardforbestdebaterintheintramuralfreshmandebatecup.AsIrecall,shewasalsoaneditorofherdepartment"sjournal.
