Overpopulation

Thelargenumberofourpopulationhasbeeoneofthemostseriousproblemsofoursociety.AordingtoarecentsurveyoftheNationalBureauofStatistics,therearemorethan1.3billionpeopleinourcountry,whichaountforabout1/5ofallthepeopleintheworld.Thesamesurveyalsopredictsthatourpopulationwillgrowquicklyintheyearstoe.

Overpopulationhasbroughtaboutaseriesofnegativeeffectstooureconomicdevelopmentandsocialsecurity.Inthefirstplace,toomanypeopleimposeaheavyburdenonourenvironment.Asaresult,wesufferfromashortageoffreshwaterandnaturalresources.Inthesecondplace,asthesupplyoflabreatlyexceedsthedemandofthesociety,manypeoplebeeemployed.Thisisasourceofsocialunrest.Lastbutnotleast,wehavetomanufactureallkindsofproductstomeettheneedsofthepeople,whichcausesenvironmentpollutiontoourlakesandland.

Seriousthoughtheproblemseems,wehavetotakesomemeasurestotackleit.Ontheonehand,thegovernmentshouldcarryoutmorestrictlythepolicyoffamilyplanning,thusreducingthetotalnumberofpopulation.Ontheotherhand,allthepeopleshouldrealizetheharmsofoverpopulation.Withtheconcertedeffortsofallthepartiesconcerned,we’resuretosolvetheprobleminthefuture.（233words）
