TherehasbeenaheateddiscussionaboutwhethertokeeptheCollegeEnglishTestBand4(6)intheuniversities.SomepeoplearguethatthetesthasbeeanobstacletotheteachingofEnglishoncampuses,whileothersmaintainthattheadvantagesofthetestoutweighitsdisadvantages.

Asfarasthefirstgroupofpeopleareconcerned,theygivethefollowingarguments.Forohing,manystudentsspendmostoftheirtimepreparingforthetest,thereforetheirfocusisnotonlearningEnglishbetterbutongettingahighmark.Foranother,manyteachersdon’tconcentrateonhowtoimprovethestudents’abilities.Theyonlycarehowmanyoftheirstudentscanpassthetest.

However,therearemanypeoplewhobelievethetestshouldstay.Tobeginwith,thetestisthemosteffectivewaytomeasurehowwellthestudentshavelearnedEnglish.What’smore,wecaneupwithsomewaystolessenthenegativeeffect.

AsfarasIamconcerned,eachsideisrightinacertainway.WehavetokeepthetestsostudentswillhavebettermotivationtolearnEnglish.However,wecan’tattachtoomuchimportancetothescoresofthetest.Afterall,itisjustatest,isn’tit?(212words)
