北京胡同(hutongtourinbeijng)
a"hutong"isanancientcityalleywayorlaypicalofancientbeijing,wherehutongsonceranintothethousands.
hutongswerefirstbuiltaroundthewalledimperialpoundknownastheforbiddencity.themajorityofthesealleywayswerebuiltduringtheyuan,mingandqingdynasties(1271—1911).attheheightofeachera,theemperorarrangedtheresidentialareassurroundinghismoataordingtoasystemofetiquettehailingbacktothezhoudynasty(c.1100—221b.c.).
